About Us
The Jonny Javelin Card Company Ltd was founded in 1999. The company started off as a husband and wife partnership working out of any room with a table, that wasn't occupied. It was the poems that Jonny wrote which inspired them to launch the business but the company has grown substantially, due to the artistic abilities of his wife Mandy, who generally comes up with the styles of the various ranges we produce.
As we began with verses, we tended to pick up sales agents who dealt mainly with shops in this market place, and so it has continued that the vast majority of our business revolves around greetings cards with a verse of some sort. The poem might be humorous or sentimental, long or short, but it's the area where we seem to do best.
In only our 3rd year we were nominated for a Henry Award at the Greetings Card Industry Awards Ceremony (our equivalent of the Oscars), which was a fantastic achievement in itself. The company has grown in size year on year and now has an established name in the Industry. As we've grown, the company has had to use freelance artists to keep up with demand, and also to give a fresh, varied look to new ranges. We have a team of 7 at present: Jonny and Mandy; the 4 girls in the office - Judy, Sue, Jackie and Nicky who handle all the orders and administration, and who do a fantastic job for us; and Yvonne who is our creative manager brought in to help Mandy and to produce wonderful artworks of her own accord. In the Henries listing of ‘Best Service to Customers’, out of the hundreds of companies out there, we have been in the top 10 for the past 3 years. This is an incredible achievement and reflects how good our sales, office and warehouse staff are. For a company our size, on a pro-rata basis, we would be top!
It is still very much a family business, but it's a friendly and enjoyable industry to be involved in, and as long as we continue to produce high quality, appealing designs, and as long as people continue having birthdays, we hope to enjoy further success.
